My Philosophy on Early Childhood Education

I truly believe that all children regardless of age, gender, race, culture, and ethnic background deserve an equal opportunity to learn and explore in a safe, comfortable, and nurturing environment. The two historians that inspired my teaching is Vgotsky the theorist that believes that social interaction plays a fundamental role in the development of cognition. Also, Benjamin Bloom he created taxonomy and levels of questions that commonly occur in education. Competence and skills were recorded and separated by knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation.

Children should be respected as individuals that have different developmental levels and needs. They also should be provided with a material rich, well organized, and healthy classroom atmosphere. Children should have the right to make choices and resolve conflicts. I encourage this by encouraging them to make good choices and resolve their conflicts by using their language and communication skills. Children learn better with structure and need to have rules. Rules should be respected and every child should understand that there are consequences if these rules are broken. On the other hand, the children should have a thorough understanding of the consequences.

I am an idealist and believe the mind is very powerful and critical to reasoning and understanding. I also think that the approach that needs to be taught is the hands on learning approach and content. If children are interested and focused they will retain the information. To me teaching is about empowering kids and giving back to them. An effective teacher is one that is gets children excited about learning. As a teacher I will always be professional and use the method necessary for all children to reach their educational goals. Educators should always continue being educated.

Children of today are the future of tomorrow. I want to make a difference in the lives of children. I hope to be an impact on the structure and development and meet all their individual needs to ensure their success in the classroom.

Safety Plans

***Safety Plans- Every School has basically the same instruction pertaining how to have safe drills in case of any emergency including : bombthreats, fire evacuations , and inclement weather. Each school has to have the Safety Plan approved by OHS-GEMA (Office of Homeland Security- Georgia Emergency Management Agency.) In 1999, legislation was passed that requires every public school in Georgia to develop and implement a wide-ranging safety plan that addresses acts of violence or terrorism, natural disasters, hazardous materials and radiological incidents. Plans must be reassessed every two years. This is the third time the Paulding County School System has successfully met the requirements of the law.

OHS-GEMA’s School Safety Unit provides services that help schools have a safe and secure school year. OHS-GEMA’s school safety coordinators offer training and technical assistance to educators, emergency management and public safety personnel. This training includes site surveys and safety audits, weapons screening,
school bus safety, gangs, bullying, exercise design and bomb threat management. OHS-GEMA also has developed a model safety plan as a guide for local schools and helps them to develop their plans
